We design everyday experiences and services using cultural elements as the starting point to reach customers through positive emotional online and offline interactions.
Everything is a product, service or experience that should make you feel seen and feel good. Most services are designed from the objective of the company and not the human using them. Sometimes those services fail at some point. They also tend to also have the illusion of inclusion and inconsiderately leave most people out.
We use technology to design solutions that not only fix problems but make you feel like that experience was created just for you.
Jan Baker is a speaker, entrepreneur and champion of business, tech, social innovation/impact and design. She is the founder of The Innovashion Group, a design firm that puts cultural elements first in reaching customers through positive emotional online and offline experiences and services. Born in The Bronx, NY, with proud Jamaican parentage, Jan is passionate about civic responsibility, mental health, justice, equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives. She strategically advises early-stage entrepreneurs/ventures while guiding them through the harrowing process of capital readiness.
For 15+ years, she has curated, managed or played a role on teams building omnichannel customer journeys in technology consisting of products, processes, services, events and environments with a focus placed on the quality of the user experience and culturally relevant solutions. Her background consists of roles intersecting business, technology and creativity such as product management/app development, event curation, marketing, international relations, and has worked in different corners of the world on technology and innovation projects. Jan has also been the Managing Director at Impact Hub (NYC, DC, Berkeley, and San Francisco) a coworking network for social innovators and embraces the power of using physical spaces, convening, community and technology to bring people together.
Jan has worked on projects solving problems or creating experiences across industries with the likes of Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Endeavor/IMG, New York Fashion Week, Verizon, HSN/QVC, Xfinity/Comcast, DC Government, Stanford University d. school, NBA, NFL to startups and also acts a venture advisor.
Jan obtained an MBA/MS in Technology Management from the University of Maryland including a study abroad program at the European Union and University of Antwerp in Belgium and Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Marymount Manhattan College (NYC) where she also studied Costume Design. She also has certifications in Service Design from University of London , Digital Marketing, Product Management, Coding at General Assembly, Cooper Design and Strategy, St. Petersburg College and New York University.
